description : This workshop will explore the beauty and charm of the old south. We will visit plantations and gardens, modern architecture and historical sites. We will discuss topics including macro photography and HDR. Some light trekking may be involved.
There will be classroom seminars and field instruction from both instructors throughout the week.
equipment : camera (digital or film), all ranges of lenses that you have for a variety of shooting situations, tripod, laptop (if you have one)
Where are we going:
We will be spending a morning and an afternoon, not necessarily on the same day, at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. We will explore the uniquie locations on the plantation grounds and expand our knowledge of macro photography in the gardens.
We will visit the Audubon Swamp Garden at least once. Filled with wading birds and alligators, it should be a feast for wildlife photography.
We will visit Boone Hall Plantation in North Charleston. This is a working plantation with many buildings and landscaped grounds to photograph. We will be there for the early morning light.
We are hoping to visit and photograph one of the forts in the area for an afternoon shoot.
We will photograph sunset over the Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge.
We will photograph all over the historic district of Charleston, capturing the architectural details and the beauty of living history.
Classes will allow plenty of time to answer any of your photography questions. We will be teaching HDR (high dynamic range) photography from the field to the software. We will help you get started and fine tune your shooting techniques for HDR and teach you to build a successful, natural-looking final image.
